Courtship and Marriage
Clyde and Lois on their wedding day
Clyde went home after the service. Clyde worked at numerous different jobs. In the service Clyde claims he had a crush on about 30 or 40 girls. However, all of them were Mormon girls because Clyde did not want to go out with a non-Mormon girl.
Clyde continued his interest in Mormon women after the War. Clyde met his eventual bride Lois Wahlen at an MIA dance one night. Whether by design or part of a larger plan we are not sure, but Clyde waited until the last dance to ask Lois to dance. Clyde claims he was without a partner and saw Lois and asked her to dance. After that dance, Clyde kept on going out with Lois until she fell in love with him. Most of their dates consisted of church dances and church firesides.
Lois grew up in San Bernadino, California. Lois was very beautiful and popular with men and many of them wanted to marry Lois. In her patriarchal blessing it said that Lois would find her husband in the church. (And she found him at an MIA dance at church, and he was a member of the church) Clyde and Lois ended their courtship and were married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 26, 1948.
